Community Service Projects

“Doing well by doing good.”  At Trinity, that phrase encompasses a great deal.

Giving back to the communities our students call home is an interactive approach to citizenship.

At Trinity Lutheran School, community service is an important life trait. We are proud that our students have created and participated in public service activities that provide clothing, food, shelter and support to those in need.

Students who participate in community service activities gain skills in civic service, develop character, exhibit good values, and gain a greater knowledge about the community in which we live.

Each class chooses community service projects, and most students choose several causes to support.  Some of the projects and activities target a specific event, such as “Race for a Cause,” “Habitat for Humanity,” or “Rake and Run.”  Each fall, students participate in “Candy for Cash,” exchanging their Halloween candy for cash at Zooka dentistry. Funds go to build schools in poor countries, or to “Heifer International,” an international fundraiser to feed the hungry.

Gift baskets auctioned in our annual fall fundraiser are created by each class and reflect a class-chosen theme.  The baskets are enormous, creative, and often reflect a good sense of humor!

Some community projects are long term, as children learn that helping others is a lifelong attribute, not a one-time opportunity.  Soup labels are collected, letters are written to our troops and their families, and money is raised to build classrooms in poor countries.  Pediatric cancer patients are sponsored.  An annual coat drive for Grandma's House offers warmth to local children in need.  Help is offered – one student at a time.

Empathy and community service at Trinity Lutheran School is a reflection of a nurturing school environment and a thriving faith.

Students at Trinity do well, by doing good.
