Bob Fowls, Head of School
Mr. Robert Fowls has been the Head of School at Trinity since 1999. Mr. Fowls has spent the last 30 years in education, as a classroom teacher, coach and principal. He was named National Distinguished Principal in 2003 and given this honor by the U.S. Dept. of Education in Washington, D.C. He is married to Beverly and they have three children. Fun Fact: Mr. Fowls was a three-sport athlete in college and once had lunch with NFL legend Tom Landry, the first head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

Ann Carpenter, Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4
Mrs. Ann Carpenter is beginning her fourth year teaching at Trinity. She is a graduate of the University of Phoenix. She is married to Bill. They have three children at Trinity, Emily who is a 10th grader, Abby is in 8th grade and Nate is a 6th grader. Fun fact…Ann was an ice cream zoo runner for Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlor.

Michael Polk, Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4
Mr. Michael Polk is a graduate of Eastern Oregon University and is in his third year of teaching at Trinity. When Mike isn’t at Trinity, you can find him fishing or golfing. He is married to Shannon - the Director of Development at Trinity. They have a daughter, Kelsey, who is a 7th grader. Fun fact…at 6’7” Mike is the tallest teacher at TLS teaching the smallest students!

Debbie Valentine, Kindergarten
Mrs. Debbie Valentine has been teaching at Trinity for 13 years. She graduated from Concordia College in Portland Oregon in 1994 and has a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University in Irvine, California. Debbie is married to Jim and they have two children, Layton who is in PreK at Trinity and Lexi who was one last spring. Fun fact…Debbie was a nanny in Germany and that’s where she discovered that she wanted to be a teacher.

Tharon Lyon, Kindergarten
Mrs. Tharon Lyon is in her second year teaching at Trinity. She has a B.A. in communications from Western Washington University and a Master’s Degree in Education from George Fox University. Tharon is married to David and has two children at Trinity, Alex who is a 9th grader and Johanna in 6th. Fun fact…She has a Newfoundland dog named Ellie and she used to be a radio disc jockey.

Tonja Clift, 1st Grade
Mrs. Tonja Clift has been teaching children at Trinity for 11 years. She is a graduate of WOU in Monmouth, Oregon. She grew up in Central Oregon, attending Trinity Lutheran Church, and is now raising her family here as well. She is married to Greg (Assistant Principal) and has two daughters that attend Trinity, Calah an 8th grader and Megan who is in 5th grade. Fun Fact…Mrs. Clift attended Kindergarten at Trinity.

Amy Ludwick, 1st Grade
Mrs. Amy Ludwick is beginning her second year teaching at Trinity. Amy is a 2006 graduate of Seattle Pacific University and is married to Grant who is a Real Estate broker. Amy is helping coach Trinity’s cross-country team this fall. Fun fact…Amy was an All-American pole-vaulter in college.

Kathy Gibson, 2nd Grade
Mrs. Gibson was born and raised in Southern California and moved to Bend, Oregon in June 2004. She received her teaching credential from Concordia University, Irvine. This is her fourth year teaching at Trinity. Kathy is married to Mike (electives) and has two grown sons. Fun fact…Mrs. Gibson met her husband on a blind date and they have been married for 35 years.

Mary Maurer, 2nd Grade
Mrs. Mary Maurer graduated from Concordia University, Seward with a B.S. in Education. This is her eighth year teaching 2nd grade. She has been married to her husband Ron for 25 years, and her children, Luke and Melissa, are both in college. Fun Fact… Mrs. Maurer has taught at Trinity her entire teaching career.

Allison Stoops, 3rd Grade
Miss Stoops is a graduate of Concordia University Austin, Texas. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Education and has a Lutheran Teacher Diploma. Fun Fact: Allison grew up in Eastern Washington and graduated with a class of 14.

Donna Brisk, 3rd Grade
Mrs. Donna Brisk has been teaching for 21 years. She graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Since teaching at Trinity, she completed her Lutheran teacher training through CUENET and Concordia College in addition to other graduate courses. Donna is married to Ken (our Head of Building Maintenance) and has three grown children. Fun fact…Donna has her own website!

Sue Newman, 4th Grade
Mrs. Sue Newman is in her 8th year teaching fourth grade at Trinity. She was born and raised in the Portland area and attended Oregon State University, graduating in Elementary Education. She is married to Mike and they have two children Lindsey and Austin. Lindsey is a freshman at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and Austin is a junior at Summit High School. Fun fact…Mrs. Newman is a big baseball fan!

Jon McKim, 4th Grade
Mr. Jon McKim is returning to teach at Trinity after leaving Bend to obtain his teaching degree from Concordia University in Portland. He is married to Rachel, his high school sweetheart and they have two daughters at Trinity, Megan in 4th and Emma in 1st. Fun Fact: Jon is a survivor of the West Nile virus.

Eric Haan, 5th Grade
Mr. Eric Haan graduated Magna Cum Laude from Valparaiso and has a Masters in Education. Mr. Haan moved to Bend in the summer of 2003 and teaches 5th grade. He is married to Amanda and they have a one-year-old daughter named Linnea and are expecting their second child in November. He coaches cross-country and swimming. Fun fact…Eric loves to run and write!

Mark Lindow, 5th grade
Mr. Mark Lindow has a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Memphis in Commercial Music with an emphasis in recording technology and a minor in film/video editing. He is also a graduate of the CueNet Colloquy program through Concordia University. He is married to Shelly and they have a three-year old daughter named Hattie. Fun fact…He has been known to dress up as a cow from time to time!

Jorunn Phipps, 6th Grade
Mrs. Jorunn Phipps has a B.A. from Pepperdine University and has spent the last five years teaching high school English. She is a Seattle Native, loves to travel and has been to Europe 5 times. She is married to Tyler and they have 2 puppies. Fun Fact: Jorunn ran cross-country at Pepperdine.

Darla Linn, 7th Grade
Mrs. Darla Linn has been teaching at Trinity for the last 12 years. After graduating from Crook County High School, Darla received her secondary education training from Western Oregon University. In addition to teaching 7th grade, Darla also leads the hand bell group for LEST. Darla is married to Tim who works for CueNet and they have a 5-year-old son named Lewis that is in Trinity’s PreK program. Fun fact…Darla can cackle just like a famous Wizard of Oz character!

Kathy Arthurs, 7th Grade
Mrs. Kathy Arthurs has a 7th grade homeroom and teaches 7th -10th language arts. She graduated from U of O, earning a degree in English Literature. Kathy taught high school in Roseburg and Santa Rosa as well as 21 years in Bend at Cascade and High Desert Middle School. She has 2 sons and 1 grandchild. Fun Fact: Kathy wants to visit every continent on the globe and has already checked 4 off the list!

Wendy Fitzhenry, 8th Grade
Mrs. Wendy FitzHenry graduated from Concordia, St. Paul with a degree in secondary education, focusing in social studies and theatre. She also completed her Masters Degree in Humanities from California State. Mrs. FitzHenry has an 8th grade homeroom and teaches 7th-10th grade social studies. She and her husband Thad have one child, Kaitlyn, who is three. Fun fact… Wendy has acted in four movies!

Tom Stueve, 9th Grade
Mr. Tom Stueve is at the helm of our high school program. Tom has a Masters Degree in Molecular Biology and was a professor at Concordia Portland and Portland Community College. Tom is married to Heather, who works for CueNet and they have two sons, Jonathan and Timothy, who both attend Trinity. Fun fact…Tom has 17 aunts and uncles and grew up on the family dairy farm.

Jessica Fowls, 10th Grade
Miss Jessica Fowls will be teaching 10th grade homeroom and 7th-10th grade math. She has a B.B.A. in Finance from Boise State University and a M.A. in Education from Concordia University in Portland, Oregon. Fun Fact: Jessie loves to watch college football and basketball.

Dina Weber, P. E.
Mrs. Dina Weber has been teaching at Trinity for the last seven years. In addition to her P.E. duties, Dina also coaches girls’ volleyball, basketball and track. She is married to Jon and has an adult son, Dustin and daughter, Kelsea who is an 8th grader at Trinity. Fun Fact…Dina played drums in high school.

Greg Clift, Assistant Principal, P.E. and Technology
Mr. Greg Clift graduated from Western Oregon University with a B.S. in Elementary Education and a Masters degree from Concordia Portland. He has been the Athletic Director for many years and is teaching P.E. and technology as well as assuming new duties as an Assistant Principal this year. Greg is married to Tonja (a 1st grade teacher here at Trinity) and has two daughters that both attend TLS, Calah and Megan. Fun fact…Greg could live on Nacho Cheese Doritos and Mountain Dew and/or homemade Rice Krispy Treats and milk!

Liza Conover, Reading Specialist
Mrs. Liza Conover is beginning her fifth year teaching at Trinity. Formally a 1st grade teacher, Liza is now our Reading Specialist. She graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Liza is married to Paul and their son Jadon was born this past Easter. Fun Fact: Liza has lived in Bend three separate times, birth to 3 days, high school and now!

Mike Gibson, Electives
Mr. Mike Gibson is one of our electives teachers this year. Mike comes to us with a Masters Degree in Biology and has 35 years of teaching experience. Mike is married to Kathy (a 2nd grade teacher at Trinity) and they have two grown sons. Fun fact…Mike loves to backpack!

Carol Podwils, Music
Mrs. Carol Podwils has been teaching at Trinity since 1976. She is a graduate of Concordia University, Seward, NE with a major in Art and Music. Carol is married to Mark and has two grown children (who both graduated from Trinity) and a grandson, Haiden. Fun fact…Carol and her husband own a Harley!

Amber Dermody, Music
Miss Amber Dermody is a Concordia University, Seward graduate and instructs our 3rd-8th grade music, band and choir. Amber is from Iowa and is in her fifth year of teaching. Fun fact…Amber took dance lessons for 18 years and once sang in the Sydney Opera House of Australia.

Carol Nase, Spanish 2nd-7th Grades
Mrs. Carol Nase has a Masters in Education from Portland State University. She and her husband Steve have three children, Alex who is 20 and attended Trinity and Daniel and Christina who are both current students. Mrs. Nase was born in Spain and still has dual citizenship. Fun Fact: Mrs. Nase lived in Spain, Germany and Italy and didn’t move to the States until she was 18.

Elizabeth Guerin, Spanish 8th-10th Grades
Mrs. Elizabeth Guerin has a Bachelors degree from the State University of New York at Alfred and teaching credentials and a Masters Degree form Central Washington University. She is married to John and they have three children, Michelle 17, Luke 13 and Eliza 10. Fun Fact: She and her family own a small dairy goat farm and she enjoys artisan cheese making.
