Many parents face the conundrum of a quality school education and their child’s interest in pursuing high-school athletics. Is it possible to give a child an excellent academic experience in an environment that is free of the challenges facing students in public school – and still nurture the child’s athletic interests?
At Trinity Lutheran, that answer is yes.

Athletic opportunities at Trinity are limitless. Trinity Junior High students have first-rate, competitive teams in track, volleyball, basketball and cross- country. High school students may participate in any sport that interests them – thanks to a cooperative athletic relationship with Summit High School, Bend High, Mt. View High School, and club sports. At Trinity, participation in athletics is encouraged, and student involvement begins with Parks and Recreation in lower grades. Beginning in 5th grade, students have the opportunity to sign up for practices and participation in L.E.S.T. (Lutheran Elementary Schools Tournament) held each February at Concordia University in Portland. Student athletes play to win, but cooperation; sportsmanship, academic standing, discipline and faith are leadership qualities that emanate from Trinity’s athletic director, Greg Clift. |
Students participating in Trinity sports are asked to also sign a commitment contract, stating that they (and their parents) accept the terms of participating as a team player, and will commit to the time and energy required of each chosen sport. Accepting accountability and responsibility are maturing lessons important to junior high and high school students – both in sports and in life. Faith and respect are an integral part of competitive sports at Trinity. |
